All the small things

If you don’t have time for the small things, you won’t have time for the big things.

Focus on ideas, product, execution and your team. If you do this the money will ultimately come. People who focus on finance generally fail.

Google to make Starbucks Wi-Fi 10 times faster – Jul. 31, 2013

Google to make Starbucks Wi-Fi 10 times faster – Jul. 31, 2013.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney)

Google is teaming up with Starbucks to make Wi-Fi at its coffee shops 10 times faster.

Over the next 18 months, Google (GOOG, Fortune 500) will be upgrading all 7,000 company-operated Starbucks locations in the United States. Starbucks (SBUX, Fortune 500) already offers free Wi-Fi access at its coffee shops, but the company said faster Internet speeds will give it a competitive advantage over its rivals.

“Our goal is to continue to provide our customers with the best in-store experience possible, and we are excited to offer these kinds of unparalleled experiences at a broad scale,” said Adam Brotman, Starbucks’ chief digital officer, in a prepared statement.

Since 2008, AT&T (T, Fortune 500)has provided in-store Wi-Fi for Starbucks, but when that contract expired, Google beat out the telecom giant for the chance to build out the network of the future.

AT&T spokesman Mark Siegel noted that in AT&T’s proposal to Starbucks, the telecom giant also offered up to 10 times faster network and Wi-Fi speeds.

“The decision must have been based on criteria other than speeds,” he said.

Google has taken an interest in increasing speeds for Internet users across the country, as more robust connections translate into more searches and bigger advertising dollars.

The search giant has offered free Wi-Fi for the city of Mountain View, Calif., for several years, and it has installed super-fast fiber networks in Kansas City. More than a dozen other cities, including Austin, Texas, are on tap to receive “Google Fiber” soon.

For Starbucks located within Google Fiber cities, Internet speeds are expected to become 100 times faster than their current levels. To top of page

My Current Delimma

Okay for about a month to the day, maybe even a little longer I have been waiting on my business loan, through Nashville SCORE. Now for those who dont know what SCORE is its a Resource Partner with the U.S. Small Business Administration. If you are thinking of starting a business I recommend speaking with them, they will set you up with a free mentor that has experience in your industry. Without this loan I will be unable to manufacture my product and get it to the public. Now a great woman named Sue M. is helping me get this loan and she is currently doing everything in her power to get the process moving forward. This is our 3rd attempt of this loan because even with perfect credit I dont have enough debt coverage they say, so I need a cosigner. “Thank God for family”, my family offered to help cosign this. They have full faith in what I can and will do with this business and I have full faith that everything will work0ut accordingly. You cant let small challenges through you off course,  you have to have that tunnel vision keeping you on course and you eyes on the goal.

Now what do I do till i receive my loan. This created an obstacle and an opportunity for me.

Forget the stereotypical leadership image of a buttoned-up person in a gray suit hauling around a hefty briefcase. Today, standout leaders come in all shapes and sizes. She could be a blue jeans-clad marketing student, running a major ecommerce company out of her dorm room. He might be the next salt-and-pepper-haired, barefoot Steve Jobs, presenting a groundbreaking new device at a major industry conference.

“Our research indicates that what really matters is that leaders are able to create enthusiasm, empower their people, instill confidence and be inspiring to the people around them,” says Peter Handal, chief executive of New York City-based Dale Carnegie Training, a leadership-training company.

That’s a tall order. However, as different as leaders are today, there are some things great leaders do every day. Here, Handal shares his five keys for effective leadership:
